50 street artists are transforming a stretch of Montreal this weekend

It's the largest urban-art event in North America, and it happens in Montreal this week. And this year, the Under Pressure International Graffiti Convention turns 20. There will be concerts, there will be art exhibitions, there will be b-boy battles. And starting Saturday, an annual tradition will continue. Maybe you've even Instagrammed it last time you walked down St. Catherine.

Each year, artists from Canada and around the world collaborate on new paintings, transforming a stretch of the street between Ste-Elisabeth and Berger. This year, more than 50 contributors will participate, and they have just two days to give the corridor a total makeover — producing not just murals, but a variety of artwork inspired by graffiti and urban culture.

Starting Saturday, it begins all over again.

We've rounded up images from a few of this year's participating artists. (And heads up: you'll see more from one of the Montreal contributors, Laurence Vallières, when the CBC Arts web series The Education of Eddy Rogo premieres later this summer.) Visit the festival's official website for a full list of 2015's muralists and info on where to find more on their work.

Per the Under Pressure website, the festival's founders began the festival with a goal: "to help change how graffiti was perceived." Did any of these images open your mind? Tweet @CBCArts and tell us about your favourites.

Under Pressure. To August 9 at various locations, Montreal.
