A legend in Quebec theatre, Lorraine Pintal is now a Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award winner too

Lorraine Pintal has lived many different lives in the arts in Quebec. An actress, writer, director and administrator, Pintal has long been an outspoken advocate for artistic expression — which is why she's receiving a Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award at this year's Governor General's Performing Arts Awards.

The GGPAAs are Canada's highest honour in the performing arts and this year's award ceremony is taking place on April 26, followed by the red carpet gala on April 27.

The actress, director, writer and artistic director is receiving an Artistic Achievement Award in theatre.

Pintal is a true champion of the arts. She began her career as an actress, but has been able to provide a spotlight for Quebec drama and programming though her role as artistic director of Montreal's Theatre du Nouveau Monde since 1992.

A versatile creator, Pintal has produced several television series, including Radio-Canada's Montreal, PQ and even hosted the literary talk show Plus on est de fous, plus on lit. It is her dedication to the arts that shines through in all of her roles.
