Samara Shuter's paintings highlight bold menswear

Canadian painter Samara Shuter has managed to turn doodling into a full-time profession. She had a penchant for scribbling out neckties and other fashion accessories when she was younger, but nowadays she does much more than doodle. Her colourful creations are large-scale paintings reminiscent of comic book art, and they focus almost exclusively on menswear — specifically, tailored suits.
"The inspiration for painting suits has a lot to do with sort of figuring yourself out," she once said. "What your identity is, your character and societal pressure, all kinds of stuff relating to the question of who I am and how I can make a difference. How can I matter?"
Shuter has no formal art training, a fact that's not-at-all obvious in her rendering of this dapper gent:

When she's not painting suits, she does other fashion accessories:
Shuter has exhibited in Toronto, Miami, New York and elsewhere.
