The 2016 Oscars dominate this week's round-up of the best arts quotes, starting with a couple of the biggest lines from Chris Rock's opening monologue...

"Is Hollywood racist? You're damn right it's racist. But it's not the racism you know. Hollywood is sorority racist. It's like: 'We like you Rhonda, but you're not a Kappa.'"

Chris Rock explains Hollywood racism in one of the most memorable lines from his Oscar monologue.

"There weren't black nominees in the '60s — why didn't we protest then? Because we had more important things to protest about. We were too busy being raped and lynched to care about who won best cinematographer."

The Revenant's Alejandro G. Inarritu wins his second Oscar for best director.

Before leaving the podium at the 2016 BRIT Awards, Adele makes a stand for fellow pop star, Kesha.

"I am beyond words in gratitude. thank you is not enough but it is all I have. a million times over and forever thank you. the support I have received has left my face swollen from tears."

On Instagram, Kesha responds to the outpouring of public support following news that she was denied a preliminary injunction against her producer, Dr. Luke. The pop star has accused Dr. Luke of sexual assault and emotional abuse.

"For me it's almost impossible to mention Bowie's name in the past tense. Everything he represented as an artist is and will be vital and incredibly present."

Annie Lennox speaks as part of a tribute to David Bowie during the 2016 BRIT Awards.
