Directed by Ron Dias, Morningside is a coming-of-age film that follows the lives of seven young adults living and working around the Morningside Avenue area in Scarborough, a part of Toronto's east end.

In the film, the characters face the choice between following their dreams and living up to family expectations, all while navigating gentrification and the tough realities of life in their neighborhood.

Today on Commotion, culture critic Huda Hassan and author/filmmaker Catherine Hernandez join guest host Rad Simonpillai to discuss the film, and how well the community depicted on screen reflects its real-life counterpart.
