There's a close connection between Jamaican dancehall music and Canadian culture — and now, you can learn about the roots of that relationship in a new book.

Art of Dancehall, by Major Lazer DJ Walshy Fire, documents the genre's rise from the streets of Jamaica to the global stage through the colorful handmade flyers and posters used to promote local dancehall club nights and street parties.

One of the contributors to the book is Toronto-based dancehall archivist Sheldon Bruce, a.k.a. Muscle. Today on Commotion, Bruce joins host Elamin Abdelmahmoud to discuss Canada's role in dancehall's worldwide domination.
