What can we learn from the Prada 'sandal scandal'?

The Italian luxury fashion house Prada made a misstep at this year's Milan Fashion week.

Some of their runway models wore shoes that closely resembled Indian Kolhapuri sandals. But during the show, Prada never meaningfully credited the footwear's origins. They've since issued a statement to the BBC acknowledging the Indian roots of the new footwear line.

However, today on Commotion, CBC News producer Joyita Sengupta tells Elamin Abdelmahmoud about how Prada's "sandal scandal" is just the latest in a long history of South Asian fashion being appropriated by the west.
