This month, Canadian publisher McClelland & Stewart is launching a book series, Kanata Classics. The collection will reissue six Canadian books it considers classics, including Marian Engel's Bear and Richard Wagamese's Medicine Walk. 

However, these books were not always considered to be classics. Today on Commotion, host Elamin Abdelmahmoud speaks with publisher Martha Sharpe and authors authors  Jael Richardson and David A. Robertson about updating the Canadian literary canon and what it means to be in it.
