Creative Minds: At this critical moment, four artists discuss what makes a nation
On April 21, join us for a conversation on how art can help us make sense of our ever-changing world
Creative Minds is back. The event series — bringing together visionary artists to discuss the urgent social, political and cultural issues of our time — will hold its second edition on April 21 at Toronto's Massey Hall. Following last year's inaugural talk on art and social justice, the series continues with a conversation around the nation state and its impacts, touching on current global politics and how art shapes our understanding of place, history and progress.
Watch AGO Creative Minds now:
Metro Morning's Matt Galloway will lead the discussion with architect Sir David Adjaye, visual artist/writer Christi Belcourt, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Díaz, and actor/filmmaker Paul Gross. Each artist will reflect on how they address these topics in their own creative practice before turning to the broader issue of art's role in today's changing world. The event will also feature a performance by musical guest Whitehorse.
Four Canadian cultural institutions — the Art Gallery of Ontario, Massey Hall, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity — have come together once again to continue the initiative with the support of series presenters Jonas and Lynda Prince. Tune in for a timely look at how art can help us make sense of our ever-changing society.
