DNTO's Sook-Yin Lee asks, Where have all the poets gone?

It was DNTO host Sook-Yin Lee's discovery of a 1967 CBC TV show about poetry, called Extension, that left her with a driving question. It's turned into a documentary aptly titled, "Where Have All the Poets Gone?"

In Sook-Yin Lee's new documentary, the DNTO host goes on a quest to find the host of a show from the deep within the CBC archives, and to figure out what has happened to poetry over the past 50 years.

Sook-Yin Lee must be an insomniac. That's what CBC Arts figures, since in addition to hosting her show DNTO, making films, acting and being a musician, she's also found time to dig through CBC's archives to unearth a gem of a beatnik poetry show from 1967.

If you've fallen into a research spiral before, you already know how the journey can provoke some compelling questions. So Lee has gone on her own quest, not only to seek out the host of the aforementioned CBC show Extension, but to find out: where have all the poets gone?

Sook-Yin Lee's documentary Where have all the poets gone? airs Friday March 25 at 4pm ET (4:30 NT) on CBC Radio One and the full video will be available on CBC Books

Watch Exhibitionists Sundays at 4:30pm (5 NT) on CBC.
