How to get ready for high times by making your own ceramic bong

As marijuana is legalized in Canada, it feels like a good moment to encourage you to try ceramics and make a bong...totally for ornamental reasons, of course.

Learn the basics with Kristian North and Richard Lawson of Montreal's High Art Head Shop

(CBC Arts)

Hey, in case you haven't heard, on October 17 it's no longer illegal to ingest marijuana (in controlled amounts, safely and appropriately dressed for the occasion). So it seemed like a good moment to encourage you to try ceramics and make a bong...totally for ornamental reasons, of course.

The co-founders at Montreal's High Art let us in on some of the central steps in creating their signature hand-thrown bongs.

And seriously, the bongs crafted in Montreal's High Art studio would be at home on a shelf with your most prized possessions — take a look at their Montreal Painters series, a set of collaborations with local artists (you can see a few examples below).

Of course, we wouldn't ask founders Kristian North and Richard Lawson to let us in on all of the secrets of creating one of their glazed and painted vessels. But in this video by Jorge Camarotti, they share the basic steps that you must follow to make your own bong.

Have fun! Be safe! And follow High Art here.
