'I live my life. I do what I love.' For designer Niti Marcelle Mueth, that's all that matters

Just 22 years old, Niti Marcelle Mueth has already made a considerable name for herself working as a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer in Montreal. Emphasizing self-acceptance in her work "to inspire and motivate her generation," Mueth was our own Exhibitionist In Residence nearly two years ago, when she was still a student at the University of Montreal. 

"I studied graphic design in college and I think that being one of the only Black students in my program wasn't easy because most of the others weren't used to other cultures," Mueth says in the above video, looking back at that time. "So I was one of their first Black friends. They weren't mean or anything, I think that it was just a matter of getting used to it. I always did what represents me so it was obviously different. I put forward my culture so I guess it would shock people."

Today, Mueth seems to have considerable perspective for someone her age when she describe how she goes about her day-to-day now.

"I do not plan much," she says. "I live my life. I do what I love. And I think that's all that matters"
