K!mmortal is creating her own universe out of art, music — and Filipino tradition
A self-described artist "of lines and rhymes," Kim Villagante (aka K!mmortal) imbues every piece of her work with part of her Filipino tradition, from drawing to animation to her soulful music.
Vancouver-based multi-disciplinary figure calls herself an "artist of lines and rhymes"
K!mmortal isn't just a multi-disciplinary artist, she's creating a universe.
The Filipino-Canadian Vancouverite makes drawings that fit with her animations, which taken together form perfect environments for her musical performances. Her history, her present-day life and her optimism all help to build a universe for her work.
In this short documentary by filmmaker Mangla Bansal, you get to see K!mmortal at work in the studio and on stage.
You can see K!mmortal on March 18 and 19 at the Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse or from March 29 to April 2 at Presentation House Theatre in north Vancouver.
