Since Tom Brown was a kid, he's been obsessed with miniatures. Now, as an adult, he's turned his obsession into art.
Tiny teacups, small spoons and mini meat cleavers are the tools he uses to make scaled-down food over tiny flames. Brown has carefully crafted dozens of these utensils to accompany his recipes and stock a very unusual performance art project.

Duration 3:14
Calgary-based performance artist Tom Brown will give you all the feels with his community-building miniature food. Filmmakers: Laura O'Grady, Chris Krieger and Braden Dereniwski.
The project is called "The Miniature Kitchen" and it's remarkable to look at. But every little piece actually works.
In this video made by Laura O'Grady, Chris Krieger and Braden Dereniwski, you go with Brown as he packs up the kitchen to take it onto the street and cook miniature meals for people. It's a way to connect and get people to reexamine their perception of the world around them.
Laura O'Grady likes to keep busy. In her former role of Vice President of Production at Spotlight Productions (2012-2018), she oversaw production crews and post-production teams in multiple markets including production offices in Calgary and Vancouver. Since then DDG has consistently turned out award-winning work for artistic, corporate and commercial clients across North America.
