Get ready for the Governor General's Awards with the most unusual bio films you've ever seen
The NFB has made 7 inventive films about the GG Performing Arts Awards winners, and you can watch them here
One of the little-known facts about the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards is that the NFB produces a series of films about the honourees each year. They've made 76 of these shorts to date! And we're bringing you this year's round: seven films celebrating 2017 laureates Jean Beaudin, Michael Bublé, Yves Sioui Durand, Michael J. Fox, Brigitte Haentjens and William H. Loewen. They're all mini bios, in a way — but these aren't your typical documentaries. Each short comes from a different Canadian director, acclaimed in their own right, and the series is produced in collaboration with the National Arts Centre, which hosts the awards' 25th anniversary gala tonight in Ottawa. You'll find comedy, drama and even experimental animation in this year's offering. Take a look!
