Let us count the ways Justin Timberlake went wrong with his Super Bowl halftime show
From disrespecting Prince to a meh performance, Amanda Parris and Peter Knegt didn't have high scores for JT
Every Monday, CBC Arts runs down the latest arts and culture news on State of the Arts, a live chat between our very own Amanda Parris and Peter Knegt (never fear, Romeo Candido fans — he'll be back in a few weeks).
For our latest edition, Amanda and Peter had a whole lot to say about what went wrong with Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl halftime show performance, from his very questionable inclusion of Prince to his decision not to involve any other musicians in his performance. But they were at least happy it helped paved the way for #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay — and also used JT as an opportunity to look back at Super Bowl halftime shows of yore, from the great (Prince, Beyonce, Madonna) to the downright bizarre (Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias and Toni Braxton collectively performing a Disney commercial in 2000).
Feel free to add your take on the episode's audience question — what are the best and worst Super Bowl halftime shows of all time? — while you watch the clip above.
