Frost warning in effect — everywhere but Instagram.

Our feed is in bloom, and it's all because of Saskatoon's Ghost House. Otherwise known as Lindsey Rewuski, the artist/graphic designer staged her first public-art installation as part of the city's recent Nuit Blanche. Her project? The Secret Garden (Deconstructed), a projection of animated blossoms, letting Nuit Blanchers walk down a back alley strewn with spinning flower petals.

Follow her feed at @ghosthouseyxe and you'll find the aftermath of countless games of "He loves me, she loves me not." There are animated mandalas, made of pulled-apart posies...

...And lush single-frames from her finished films.

Rewuski animates her kaleidoscopic bouquets by hand. First, she takes the plant apart piece by piece, then she films the petals and pistils on a black rotating surface, taking care to capture their vibrancy before they wilt away.

"Deconstructing a flower often reveals some petals and pistils that aren't perfect," she writes. "These odd-shaped stamins, crooked stems, and lopsided leaves are intentionally kept in the finished work, and indeed, give each mandala a specific personality. Without these natural imperfections, the mandalas would feel artificially beautiful."

Social media can be so much more than selfies and viral videos — it's increasingly becoming a scratch pad for emerging artists and other creative minds to show off their latest work. Artstagram curates the best visual talent on Instagram, helping bring a little more art into your daily feed.
