How Nick Green is helping fight HIV/AIDS stigma with his new play Casey and Diana
The playwright explores the impact of Princess Diana's historic visit to a Toronto AIDS hospice in 1991
In 1991, Princess Diana held the hand of a person dying of AIDS and, with that one gesture, helped change the public perception of those afflicted with the illness. To some, it may come as a surprise that this historic moment happened in Canada at a Toronto AIDS hospice called the Casey House.
That story inspired Nick Green to write his new play, Casey and Diana, which just had its premiere at the Stratford Festival. He joined Q's Tom Power to tell us why he felt compelled to put this remarkable true story on the stage.
