Canada Reads 2018 Day Two: Watch the replay
Four books remain. Another title will be voted off the Canada Reads table on March 27, 2018.
And then there were three: a second book has been officially eliminated from contention on Day Two of Canada Reads 2018.
The second round of Canada's annual battle of the books (March 27, 2018) was passionate, insightful and, at times, heated as panellists went head-to-head on why their book is the one book all Canadians must read.
Moderated by this year's host Ali Hassan, there was discussion around understanding special needs, prioritizing Indigenous issues and respecting lived experiences — with the ensuing debates leading to a tense final vote.
The 2018 contenders are:
- Tahmoh Penikett defending American War by Omar El Akkad
- Jeanne Beker defending Forgiveness by Mark Sakamoto
- Mozhdah Jamalzadah defending The Boat People by Sharon Bala
- Jully Black defending The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline
- Greg Johnson defending Precious Cargo by Craig Davidson
