5 games to play with your toddler while lying on the couch

The love you have for your toddler aside, let’s be honest. Aren’t there days you’d rather poke yourself in the eye with a My Little Pony than pretend to be interested in another game of dress-my-baby?

The love you have for your toddler aside, let's be honest. Aren't there days you'd rather poke yourself in the eye with a My Little Pony than pretend to be interested in another game of dress-my-baby?

Well today is your lucky day 'cause here are five games I've test driven that you can play with your toddler while lying on the couch.

1. The Witch Who Lies Down

It begins with you lying on the couch. Let your toddler know that you're the witch who lies down. Next, instruct your toddler to try and sneak up on you without waking you up. When they're close, yell, cackle and grab them. (But never, ever stand up. Don't set THAT precedent.) Repeat.

2. Put Me To Bed

It begins with you lying on the couch. Let your toddler know that they need to put you to bed. Instruct them to tuck you in and then try to leave the room quietly. Proceed to drive them crazy by asking for water, a snack or a nightlight. But never say you have to pee because that would involve, you know, getting up. Repeat.

3. Catch the Bump

It begins with you lying on the couch. This time you're under a blanket! Your fist is the bump. Move it around under the blanket so it looks like the "bump" under the blanket is alive. Challenge your child to catch the bump. Repeat.

4. Run Over There and Touch That Wall Before I Stand

It begins with you lying on the couch. Challenge your toddler to a race. They have to 'run over there and touch that wall' before you can stand up. ALWAYS let them win! Repeat.

5. Mommy/Daddy Needs a Top Up

It begins with you lying on the couch. Have your toddler pour you a glass of wine. If they can't do it without spilling, instruct them to lift the bottle right to your lips. Repeat. Repeat again.
