Josh Donaldson reports to photo day with The Rachel

MVP third baseman Josh Donaldson showed up to the first day’s drills with popular television-inspired haircut The Rachel tucked neatly beneath his cap.

DUNDEDIN, FL—As the Toronto Blue Jays get in gear for Opening Day and all players report, one star who has already turned heads before even taking the field is MVP third baseman Josh Donaldson, who showed up to the media's photograph day with the popular television-inspired haircut The Rachel tucked neatly beneath his cap.

"This isn't really the type of stuff I like to talk about, guys, you know that, I just want to play ball," said a chuckling Donaldson, when asked about the new cut. "You know my life off the field doesn't affect that. I'm just trying to work through this injury and hope I don't sweat out any product. Just going to try to take my cuts and get the ol' swing in gear, while sporting this fantastic layered style."

It's not low-maintenance, and let's be honest, neither was Rachel Green.- Josh Donaldson

Pressed for opinions on the way the new 'do might affect his play, Donaldson said "You know what, we'll have to wait and see. If it slows me down one little bit, you know I'll cut it. You know that's my priority. But hopefully that doesn't happen. Actually right now the aerodynamics seem pretty promising; I'm more worried about whether the upkeep will cut into my pre-game prep. It's not low-maintenance, and let's be honest, neither was Rachel Green," said a winking Donaldson to much laughter.

"I'm just trying something, keeping things interesting," he continued. "A veteran ballplayer needs something to shake him up to keep focused mid-career. Steve Carlton took up karate, Dennis Eckersley became a closer, I got the haircut of the Rachel character from the hit TV show Friends. Different strokes."

Asked why he waited until now to debut the cut, Donaldson responded curtly but passionately, "It wasn't time yet. No. Absolutely not. The season hadn't started yet. The team was on a break. We were on a break."
