Local man enjoys two giant pancake meals before realizing it's Pancake Day
BURLINGTON, ON—Allan Morissette, a 31-year old from Burlington, Ontario, woke up bright and early on Pancake Day and wolfed down delicious pancakes for breakfast and lunch. Someone then mentioned to him that it was Pancake Day, which was entirely news to him.
"I love pancakes," said Morissette. "I just woke up in the mood for pancakes that day. I wake up in that mood, I'd say about… 300 days out of the year. So I guess the chances were actually pretty good that it would eventually coincide with Pancake Day."

The owner of the Hey Stack! pancake restaurant, Tyrone Billingsley, said that he barely realized Morrisette, easily his best customer, had walked in that morning. "As you can imagine, this is one of our busiest days of the year, next to January 17th—that's the day everyone starts breaking their New Year's resolutions. But I probably wouldn't have noticed him anyway. He's here so often that he's just part of the furniture to me. No I'm not kidding; I will often lead a group of diners to a booth and try to seat them, and they will point out to me that Allan is sitting there. I just don't see him anymore, especially if he's wearing a similar shade of red to the booths."
Morissette said that though he would describe what he ate that morning as two meals, others would probably disagree. "The meals sort of blend together into one for me. Like, in a way it's breakfast and then lunch, I guess? But in another more accurate way, I'm just ordering 30 pancakes, finishing them, and ordering 30 more. The only reason I don't order 60 at once is because half of them will get cold."
"And actually, that would be fine with me," he continued. "I love cold pancakes too, just not as much as hot or warm ones."
At press time, Morissette had finally been alerted to the day's significance by a passing patron, and Morissette drew the man's attention to his "Every Day Is Pancake Day" t-shirt, deeply stained with maple syrup and butter. Not sure why they chose to make it in white.
