Hamilton residents should be prepare for unusual sights and sounds over the next week as a film production gets underway in the city, say police.

A new production will bring special effects to the city beginning Sunday

Hamilton residents should be prepare for unusual sights and sounds over the next week as a film production gets underway in the city, say police.

The production is scheduled between July 20 to July 25 in two areas: Hamilton's north end and near Green Mountain Road and Centennial Parkway in the east.

Hamilton police said residents can expect to see low-flying helicopters, mock explosions and actors with fake guns, part of a controlled, permitted shoot and are not an emergency.

The city's film office said the production is called "Kestrel," but cannot comment on the specifics of an active production except that it's designed to minimize disruption while ensuring public safety.

CBC Hamilton reached out to Kestrel for comment, but they did not respond before publication.

It is produced by Ride or Die CDN Productions Inc., which declined to comment.

The series' broader filming schedule runs from May 5 to Aug. 20, according to the City of Toronto's film office
