Father's Day is right around the corner! Sure, you could run to the hardware store and get Dad that hot new tool, or maybe you'll just "surprise" him with a last minute dinner - but wouldn't you rather get him a gift that will make him say, "WOW! What? Holy crow! [insert Dad expletive here]!" Unfortunately, time, resources and our own selfish priorities get in the way of doing the hard research to find out what that a-ha! gift of the year is. So, we've compiled a list of easy and incredible gifts, just for Dad, just from you! You're welcome, in advance.

For the fun dad:

Long ago, I promised myself that I would only ever write "fun for the whole family" once in my lifetime - and here it is: I'm giving that title to the UCO Ice Cream Ball. It's an amazing invention for Dads who like to get the entire family together, to work up an appetite and immediately eat the calories they just burned off. Just put a few simple ingredients inside the ball (cream, sugar, ice, etc.) - and kick it around for 20 minutes or so. When you're ready, open it up and enjoy a homemade pint of ice cream in the park. Warning: people will stare.

For the dad on the go:

I know what you're thinking… an umbrella, really? But hear me out. None of us ever invest in a good quality umbrella. Most of us grab the cheapest thing we can find from the corner store when we're running for shelter in an unexpected rain storm. So give your Dad the gift of being prepared, with a Blunt Umbrella. It's the type of compact umbrella you can throw in your everyday bag and forget about it until you need it (the smallest version collapses to only 38 cm long). More importantly, it was designed to be strong - so you won't be seeing your Dad chase an inside out umbrella down the street any time soon!

For the sporty dad:

If your Dad is currently walking around with the free duffle bag he got for signing up at the local gym, you need to step in. Immediately. Those bags are a great temporary solution, but we can do better for him - with RYU's Daily Duffle. This bag has so many features, the only thing it's missing is the ability to drive you to the gym. RYU is a Canadian company that focuses on minimal, modern design, as well as durability and incredible functionality. This bag has water repellent fabric, a separate internal compartment for those sweaty gym clothes, an adjustable leather strap and an external laptop holder. Your Dad will be so stylish and fit, it's really a gift for Mom too.

He could learn cooking skills from Gordon Ramsay, photography from Annie Leibovitz, space exploration from Chris Hadfield, even tennis from Serena Williams. Is your Dad a movie buff? With MasterClass, he could be the next Martin Scorsese! Maybe he loves karaoke? A singing lesson from Reba McEntire never hurt anyone…

If your Dad has more shoes in his closet than your Mom, this is the gift for him. It's a chic, all-in-one shoe care kit that comes with everything your Dad needs to keep his footwear looking it's best. For all the Dad's that work in an office environment, a perfectly polished pair of shoes is a must-have - he probably already spending hundreds of dollars a year at those shoe-shine-pop-ups you see in airports and malls. So save him some time and savings with the SYNOVIA Shoe Valet. It comes with different polishes for different materials, a brush, shining mitts, a shoe horn and a aromatic cedar case. (Human polisher not supplied.)

For the germ-averse dad:

We've all seen those late night TV specials about the nightmare bacteria growing on our smartphones while we sleep - but how many of us actually do something about it? Chances are, not you. Higher chances are, not your Dad. So pick him up a PhoneSoap 3.0! This mighty little invention promises to kill 99.99% of the germs on his phone (while charging it) using state of the art UV-rays. It's been gaining popularity since it first appeared on Shark Tank (America's version of Dragon's Den). Now that you have your Dad shaving on a regular basis, all of that hair removal might take a toll on his skin. So pick him up the VICHY Homme Idealizer. It's a moisturizer that hydrates the skin while reducing the harsh effects of frequent shaving: such as redness, inflammation and ingrown hairs. It also rich in hyaluronic acid, which everybody knows is your best friend when it comes to an anti-aging skin care routine.

If your daring Dad loves to live on the edge, get him a gift that will get his adrenaline racing - like an race car driving experience. Most major cities across Canada offer them, so do a quick search for businesses in your area. Packages include a day at a private race track, with your Dad in the driver's seat of a REAL race car - some of which travel at speeds of up to 200 km/h! They always come with a training session and a ride-along expert in the passenger seat. It's just like drivers ed - but with messier hair.

For the outdoorsy dad:

If your Dad hits the camp ground with a plastic cooler and ice from a gas station, it's time to intervene. He deserves better. A lot better. This year he can make is own ice out in the wild, with this portable fridge AND freezer from DOMETIC. It comes with two separate compartments, so his potato salad doesn't have to go anywhere near the ice cream. (could you imagine?) It's fully portable, has interior LED lights and is wifi enabled, which means you can monitor the temperature from your phone. Oh, your phone is running low on battery? Plug it into the cooler - it can charge your phone too! The price is high, so it's a great gift to split with multiple siblings.
