Calling it already: peach is the makeup colour of 2017

It's an incredibly versatile shade, it can be applied to every feature of the face, on every shade of skin tone, and it's on some pretty hot celebrities already.

I'm calling it right now: the biggest makeup colour trend of 2017 has got to be peach. A grand total of 5 celebrities  (Emily Ratajkowski, Lily Collins, Elizabeth Olsen, Olivia Culpo and Naomi Campbell) wore peach on their eyes at the Golden Globes last Sunday, and a number of beauty brands are falling over themselves to bring peach palettes, glosses and polish to market first.

Peach is an incredibly versatile shade of makeup, sitting pretty between too-sweet-sometimes pink and too-sultry-sometimes red. Peach can be applied to every feature of the face, on every shade of skin tone, for a kiss of pinky-bronze light — like Miami visited your face for the day (or night).

Before we dive into the wider array of awesome peach makeup options, we should start with the grandmother of peach palettes, the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Collection that has nearly broken the internet. The brand didn't anticipate how insanely popular the Sweet Peach palette of eyeshadows would be and made it limited edition. When the stock ran out, fans freaked out, and Jerrod Blandino and his team raced to make more of Sweet Peach. The brand even produced a 6-minute scripted dramatic advertisement (with stop-motion animation!), to "stop the world from peach panic" meanwhile. Bottom line: Get your Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Collection palette here.

Speaking of eyes, one of my all-time favourite peach makeup products is the Laura Mercier Eye Basics water resistant eyelid primer in Peach ($32 at Sephora or Holt Renfrew). It was designed to neutralize pigment on the eyelid — peach is especially effective if you have bluish or purplish tint or veins on your lids — and double as an eyeshadow that dries flat and matte, no sheen. An added bonus is how fantastically this product makes blue, green and hazel eyes pop.

Oppositely, the Tom Ford Cream & Powder Eye Color ($75, Sephora) is so glossy and metallic that the finish looks like a pink sunset over a lake...on your eyes. A more conservatively priced alternative glossy pink shadow is the RMS Beauty Eye Polish in Lucky ($28, rmsbeauty), which is also non-toxic and doubles as a moisturizer for your lids thanks to jojoba and coconut oil and beeswax and cocoa seed butter — this stuff is good.

I believe the only cheek product I bought in 2016 is also the best cheek product on the market if you want a warm, peachy highlighter. It's all about the BECCA Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold ($38, beccacosmetics.com) packs all the peachy stuff you need: gold, pink, gloss, shimmer and a creamy consistency. A more sweetly subtle blush that is beautiful delicate, like a peachy whisper, is NARS Sex Appeal ($38, Sephora). Finally, the reviews for Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic Swish & Pop Blush in 'Ecstasy' ($56, Nordstrom) are raving and a number of comments say "this is makeup for adults" because the product doesn't sink into age lines.

For lips, BITE Beauty Amuse Bouche in 'Gingersnap' is "fresh peach with warm undertones" ($30, Sephora) and good enough (and safe enough) to eat.

Canadian beauty brand Ilia has a creamy low key peach gloss named 'The Butterfly & I', ($24, iliabeauty.com) and — without a doubt —  TonyMoly takes the cake for cutest Mini Peach Lip Balm ($7, amazon.ca). Literally.
