The Queen! Seriously. The Royal made an appearance at this season's London Fashion Week, sitting front row at Richard Quinn, next to fashion's qween, Anna Wintour. Quinn was the first-ever recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for Fashion Design, hence her mingling with the fashion set. Aside from being graced by royalty, the beauty looks this were a perfectly modern juxtaposition between strategy (think well-placed glitter) and off-duty (messy braids et al.). Here are the biggest beauty trends out of the UK's shining fashion moment.

All glitter, everything!

Sparkle was spotted almost everywhere on models in London. At Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, dewy faces shimmered thanks to makeup artist Val Garland and M.A.C's Glitters in Iridescent White and Reflects Pearl; the glitters were blown onto the forehead near the hairline, with stray bits of shine allowed to fall down to the cheekbones. Sophia Webster went big with curved braids drenched in glitter that seemed to swirl around the crown of the head in Kira Kira style. Crystals were placed down the centre part of model's manes at Markus Lupfer. At Simone Rocha a more subtle take, where glowing skin was set a-shimmer thanks to bits of gold glitter being mixed into a clear gloss and being applied daintily to the lids, with lashes left bare to keep the wet look as the focal point. And at Ashish, a smattering of glitter was used to add interest to a select few faces that were pumped up with a statement making orange lip.

Twisted sisters

Braids and knots made a runaway statement in London, where stylists had some real fun with hair. At Richard Quinn, the first few models to walk for the breakout designer had their hair piled on top of their heads, twisted and held into place by black bobby pins. Over at Simone Rocha, a deconstructed French braid was tied off with black grosgrain ribbon. While at Roksanda, loose braids were bent into a low chignon. If London is your beat, get ready to work your lengths into some sort of twist!

Make me metallic

Peter Pilotto's girls this season were '70s sirens, with a chic blend of blues across lids and fuchsia under the lower lash line, for a slept-in glamour. Metallic hits of white were also spotted at Mary Katrantzou, sitting on the inner corners of the eyes, as well as atop the Cupid's Bow for an otherworldly effect. Makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench blended fuchsia and bronzed oranges on the lids, which were played-up by lengthy false lashes. While at Delpozo, a blurred out swipe of creamy silver metallic shadow made a statement against the line's creams and polka dots.

Micro trend alert: Damp locks and outlines

Half-wet hair made an appearance at Emilia Wickstead and Erdem. At Wickstead, models looked like they mussed their hair after a shower, while at Erdem, damp finger waves cascaded into a low and fuzzy ponytail. Elsewhere, graphic exposed lip liner and eyeliner popped up at the Fashion East showcase and at Eudon Choi (in yellow!) respectively, while at David Koma, a sleek cat eye was expertly joined by black liner from the lower lash line.
