Must-see red carpet looks from the 2024 Juno Awards
Nelly Furtado, Tegan and Sara, Charlotte Cardin and more bring their fashion A-game to the Junos
Held in Halifax, the 53rd annual Juno Awards were hosted by singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado, who also performed during the broadcast. Other performers included Charlotte Cardin, TALK, The Beaches and Maestro Fresh Wes, who was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Additionally, Tegan and Sarah received honours during the broadcast.
On this year's red carpet, attendees opted for looks that reflected their personality and style — there were tailored suits and sneakers, pieces from Canadian designers and custom-made gowns.
Here are some of the evening's best looks.
Lubalin
A singer, producer and Juno nominee, Lubalin stood out on the carpet in an intentionally oversized, custom coat-and-trouser combo by Remi van Bochove. The padded, extended shoulders on this mostly grey look are very fashion-forward, and the zip-up shirt adds an unexpected detail.
4Korners
The Toronto DJ and producer wore a black button-up shirt by Rick Owens with wide-leg track pants in a dove print by Montreal label 3.Paradis. The standout accessory? His oversized Vitaly chain necklace.
Rêve
The Montreal-based singer-songwriter and Pop Album of The Year nominee was radiant in an off-the-shoulder, floor-length gown custom-designed by stylist Amber Watkins and created by Matthew Jewson. We're also big fans of her clear, sphere-like clutch, Biko jewelry, glowy makeup and sleek, centre-parted hair.
Nelly Furtado
The Junos host and performer went for glam on the red carpet with wavy locks and sculptural cat-eye makeup. The fashion look, styled by Marc Andrew Smith, included a burgundy sequin gown by Galvan London with spaghetti straps and a side slit, and jewelry from the Canadian company Birks.
Katie Tupper
Nominated for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, Katie Tupper wore a drapey, open hand-crochet dress by Spicie with matching heels. The dramatic, all-black look channelled Morticia Addams and was undeniably eye-catching.
James Barker Band
On the red carpet, it can be tough for band members to co-ordinate without appearing too matchy-matchy. The four members of the Juno Award-winning James Barker Band aced the assignment, wearing similar single-breasted suits in a complementary range of muted colours, but styled with very distinctive shirts and shoes.
Tegan and Sara
Tegan and Sara Quin, recipients of the 2024 Humanitarian Award, walked the carpet with actor Elliot Page. The twin sisters both went for oversized, asymmetrical suits and white sneakers. The looks were styled by Toyo Tsuchiya, who said Sara, on left, is wearing a suit by International Citizen, Jenny Bird jewelry and Converse shoes, and Tegan is in a Feng Chen Wang suit, Obakki jewelry and New Balance shoes.
Charlotte Cardin
The Québécois singer-songwriter, who already won Pop Album of The Year on Saturday night and was nominated for a few more awards on Sunday night, was fashionable in a boxy, dark green leather coat and burgundy hoodie look by Miu Miu, designed to be worn as a dress. Cardin also wore Miu Miu for her performance, stylist Maddy Denley told us.
Haviah Mighty
The always stylish, Juno-nominated hip-hop artist rocked a white, sparkly Vveyago vest and pant custom look, accessorized with a glasses-like piece embellished with rhinestones.
Okan
Winners of this year's Global Music Album of The Year, Magdelys Savigne and Elizabeth Rodriguez of Okan, were stunning in floor-length gowns by Canadian label Greta Constantine. The looks were styled by Queenette Olu, who also dressed the duo for the 2024 Juno Opening Night Awards.
Elisapie
The Inuk singer-songwriter wore a silver metallic Rick Owens dress, black boots and an eye-catching pair of sealskin beaded earrings from Inuk label Anouapik.
