Recipe: Joy McCarthy's Maca Balls
The no-bake vegan treat to reach for when you're trying to smash those sugar cravings
Just because you’re looking to reduce your sugar intake doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a crave-worthy snack. Joy McCarthy of Joyous Health stopped by by The Goods to share her recipe for these no-bake Maca Balls, that are perfect to reach for when you hit that mid-afternoon slump — and they just so happen to be vegan. Plus, the raw cacao powder, dark chocolate an medjool dates are sure to satisfy that sweet tooth!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ tsp raw maca powder
- 1 tbsp organic ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- ¼ cup organic dark chocolate chips
- 8-10 soft medjool dates, pits removed
- ½ cup raw almonds
- ¼ cup organic goji berries
- 1 tsp pure organic vanilla extract
Preparation
Place all ingredients into a high power food processor and blend until small pebbles form. Roll into balls and refrigerate. Makes approximately 15 cookie balls. They won't last very long because they are so sweet, delicious and blissful.
And these cookies make a delicious snack, anytime of day! Eat 2 as a healthy, fibre-rich, protein containing snack.
