Recipe: No Knead Dessert Focaccia

These easy-to-make focaccia buns are packed with dark chocolate and pecans for maximum deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 3 ¼ cup bread flour
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp instant yeast
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • ½ cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup pecans or pistachios, chopped

Topping:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup pecans or pistachios, chopped

Preparation

Combine flour, yeast, nuts, chocolate and salt in large bowl. Add water and mix with hands or spoon until combined. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let proof for 8-24 hours.

Sprinkle board with flour and transfer dough to board. Form dough into 8 balls. Transfer seam side down onto an oiled sheet tray or baking dish of desired shape. Cover with plastic wrap and rest at room temperature for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 450F. Place buns in middle rack in oven, bake for 20-24 minutes. At the 18-20 minute mark take buns out of oven, brush with oil and desired chocolate and nut toppings. Continue cooking for 2-4 minutes.

Serve as an ice cream sandwich with your favourite type of gelato!
