The hottest sheet masks to perfect that next selfie
Have you ever been casually scrolling through Instagram only to see one of your friends looking like a serial killer?
Don't be alarmed, that's just Jessi, wearing a sheet mask, which is not just a huge trend on Instagram, it's a huge trend in skin care. And because we live to keep you on trend online and in the flesh, Jessi helped us break down 3 different kinds of sheet masks so you can decipher which ones are your best bet for your skin.
Classic white cotton sheet masks: Hydration, firmness & brightening
First up is the classic cotton sheet mask. This works if you have dry skin and problems with redness. In 20 minutes it also works to hydrate, brighten, tone and firm your face. It can even reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Pay attention to the ingredients on the packaging – the one that we used has Chamomile flower water, which sounds fancy because it is – it will work to purify and calm your thirsty skin.
We love the Dr. Jart+ Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask from Sephora.
Charcoal sheet masks: Pores & pimples
Next is the charcoal sheet mask. Charcoal has pore-tightening benefits, so this is a great one for people with oily skin or large pores. It's going to draw out oil and dirt, giving you a deep clean without drying out your skin. We used one with Moroccan Lava Clay in it which will remove all of your dead skin cells and firm you right up.
We recommend the Dr. Jart+ Pore Minimalist Black Charcoal Sheet Mask from Sephora.
Foil sheet masks: The latest technology
Finally, the latest in sheet mask technology is the foil sheet mask, worn and approved by Posh Spice herself. Victoria Beckham loves these so, obviously we do too. They are really similar to the cotton sheet masks – except they're lined with an outer foil which creates a protective barrier to keep all of the moisture in. The foil is going to prevent the serum from evaporating while it's on your face, giving you the most hydration possible.
This one contains a double-dose of Hyaluronic Acid. The foil also insulates your face – keeping your skin warm, which will actually help the ingredients absorb better.
Victoria Beckham uses the Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery PowerFoil Mask by Estee Lauder, you can find it at The Bay and Nordstrom.
