The cookie box that will steal the show this holiday season
Baker Marchelle McKenzie delivers 3 must-try recipes with unforgettable flavours
There's something extra special and particularly festive about baking for loved ones during the holiday season. So we asked Marchelle McKenzie of Toronto's Butter and Spice bake shop to create a cookie box filled with sweets that will serve as inspo when planning your assortment this year. She shared a trio of treats inspired by cookie classics, featuring a variety of flavours and textures — plus some twists of her own. You may just find your new favourite.
First up is a gingerbread latte cookie topped with marshmallow creme to give it that latte "foam." Then there's her recipe for dammsugare, a Swedish treat that's made by repurposing leftover baked goods. And to complete the collection, we have cardamom and orange shortbreads, a holiday classic levelled up with a bit of spice and citrus.
Scroll down for all the recipes, including McKenzie's tips and tricks for getting your baking endeavours to turn out just as beautifully as those pictured below. Perhaps you'll make the whole box or maybe one cookie will become part of your holiday traditions. Either way, anyone lucky enough to be gifted these homemade treats is sure to love them as much as you'll love baking them — and snacking on them!
