CBC Music presents: Drake's Plan

Whether you know him as Drizzy, Aubz, Champagne Papi or any of the myriad names he has styled for himself, Drake is everywhere you turn — on streaming services, on hoodies bearing his owl logo, at Raptors games — and has been since releasing his mixtape So Far Gone 10 years ago.

That's why, as 2019 comes to a close, CBC Music is presenting Decade of Drake, a deep dive into the Toronto rapper and mogul's global impact.

The series runs from Oct. 24 (Drake's birthday) to Dec. 13 and comprises video and TV episodes, radio segments, a new playlist and online features. Highlights include:

  • Drake's Plan, an eight-part documentary series beginning Oct. 24 on CBC Gem with a new episode added weekly, explores how Drake strategized to build an empire and solidify himself as one of the savviest icons in the game. CBC-TV will air an abridged version of the series as a 90-minute special on Dec. 10.

  • A comprehensive guide to Drake's Toronto, an interactive online feature, maps Drake's experiences in the 6ix, from his early acting career and involvement with music to his lyrical references and album cover locations, and looks at the people he met along the way.

  • An all-Drake special edition of the weekly CBC Music Top 20 airs Oct. 24, hosted by Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe.

  • Drake and the Art of Sampling, a special edition of CBC Music's Marvin's Room, airs Oct. 25 with host Amanda Parris.

  • Drake & Co., a new playlist available to stream on CBC.ca/listen and the new CBC Listen app, includes not only Drake's deep cuts but also his features with other artists (Rick Ross, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Migos and others), as well as selections from the wider OVO roster.

  • CBC Kids gets in on the Drake action on Nov. 6, when Gary the Unicorn, Cottonball the Cat and the Studio K gang release their "Hotline Bling" parody video on CBC-TV and YouTube. That cellphone ring can only mean one thing: a playdate.
