On Monday, Oct. 19, the winner of the 2020 Polaris Music Prize will be announced.

This year, due to COVID-19, the customary gala with performances by the nominees has been reimagined as a cinematic celebration of the 10 shortlisted albums, hosted by CBC Music's Saroja Coelho and culminating in a live reveal of this year's winner.

The 2020 Polaris Music Prize celebration will be broadcast from the Carlu in Toronto. You can stream it at CBCMusic.ca/polaris starting at 8 p.m. ET, or tune in via CBC Gem, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.

The broadcast will feature a newly produced short film on each of the shortlisted albums.

In accordance with physical distancing strictures, the jury will deliberate over Zoom rather than in person. The 11 members of the grand jury are: Chad Brunet, Ricky Castanedo, Bruno Coulombe, Chaka V. Grier, Kimberley Dooshima Jev, Liisa Ladouceur, Sarah MacDonald, Sofie Mikhaylova, Chad Pelley, Anuska Sarkar and Ian Steaman.

Haviah Mighty, winner of the 2019 Polaris Music Prize, will be on hand to announce this year's winner.

The Polaris Music Prize awards $50,000 to the artist who creates the Canadian album of the year, judged solely on artistic merit, without consideration for genre or record sales. The nine other nominated acts whose albums made the 2020 short list will each receive $3,000, courtesy of Slaight Music.
