The Grand Prize:

A spot in the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class

The Grand Prize Winner will receive : a spot in the next scheduled Allan Slaight Juno Master Class (Oct. 23-27, 2023) artist development program (the "Master Class"). Includes, for up to four Band members:

a. Return economy airfare from the major Canadian airport closest to the Band members' home origin to Toronto to attend the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class from Oct. 22 - 27, 2023, accommodations at a hotel to be chosen by the CARAS in its sole discretion, and a per diem. 

b. Daily workshops with industry leaders (chosen by Allan Slaight Master Class organizers). 

c. A performance spot at a music industry showcase night in Toronto. Dates and location TBA.

d. A trip to the 2024 Juno Awards (dates TBA). The trip includes: 

i. Return economy airfare from the major Canadian airport closest to the Band members' home origin to the city location of the 2024 Juno Awards.

ii. Accommodations in that city at a hotel to be chosen by CARAS in its sole discretion.

iii. A Juno weekend ticket package. 

e. Opportunity for inclusion in Juno Awards event programming during Juno Week.

f. Mention within marketing and promotion of the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class program, not limited to content promoting artists in the program on Juno Awards social channels.

g. The opportunity to be considered (at the sole discretion of Allan Slaight Juno Master Class organizers) for a performance spot at the 2024 Opening Night Awards (program where majority of the Juno Awards are given out prior to the Juno Awards Broadcast).


A recording residency at the National Music Centre in Calgary

A five-day residency at the National Music Center (NMC) in Calgary, Alberta for one artist/group of up to four musicians (the "Residency"). The Residency includes: access to the NMC's recording facilities for up to 8 hours each day; access to an engineer, a technical assistant, and to the NMC's instrument collection; return economy airfare from the major Canadian airport closest to the Band members' home origin to Calgary, and; accommodations in Calgary at a hotel to be chosen by CBC in its sole discretion. The residency must be initiated by November 30, 2023. (Approximate value of prize: $22, 000.)


A Yangaroo Music DMDS music and video promotion package

The Grand Prize winner of CBC Music's Searchlight will receive a curated full-service music promotion distribution campaign for one audio release (single or album) and one video release covering relevant destinations in Canada, U.S., and Latin America. The full-service package includes professional guidance and consultation from Yangaroo staff for the creation of the release, release notification email, promotional assets, materials and metadata. Recipients include radio and TV programmers, music curators, media, bloggers, music supervisors, industry VIPs and more. The top prize also includes additional marketing and promotion such as: 

  • A feature blog post on the Yangaroo website 

  • A post across all Yangaroo Music social media channels promoting the winner and their release 

  • An opportunity to engage with Yangaroo's social media manager to create custom content for Instagram and/or TikTok highlighting the the winner and subsequent promotional campaign

  • Addition on one of Yangaroo's bi-weekly new music playlists on Spotify

Secondary category prizes

Four secondary category winners (top teen, outstanding Indigenous artist, songwriting prize and outstanding country artist) will receive:
