Montreal's Shay Lia has yet to release a full album, but we were lucky enough to get her in studio for a session.
You might recognize her fierce vocals from "Leave me Alone," the first single off Kaytranada's Polaris Prize-winning 99.9%, and she appears on the fellow Montrealer's new EP, Nothin Like U/Chances. She has also since collaborated with BadBadNotGood and Stwo. Born in France, Shay Lia grew up in Djibouti and has lived in Montreal for the past six years, where she just graduated.
"I'm getting ready to release a bunch of singles, an EP, visual content and do more live performances," she recently told Red Bull. "The fact that I graduated recently makes me feel very free."
