Justin Bieber hits pause on hiatus to join all-star supergroup on Earth Day single
Thirty artists converge on Lil Dicky's "Earth," set for release on April 18 at 9 p.m. PT
To draw attention to Earth Day on April 22, and to raise money to fight climate change, rapper and comedian David Burd (a.k.a. Lil Dicky) has assembled a supergoup comprising today's biggest pop stars for a new song called "Earth," poised to be released on April 18 at 9 p.m. PT.
"I'm putting this song out tonight called 'Earth,' and it's literally got 30 of the biggest artists in the world on it," Burd told Ellen DeGeneres, explaining that each of those artists plays a different animal in the song's animated video. "Justin Bieber's a baboon, Ariana Grande's a zebra," he continued, adding, "there's an environmental crisis going on right now ... we have 12 years to completely change the way we do so many things on Earth, or the damage is irreversible."
The artists involved in the new song are: Bieber, Benny Blanco, Backstreet Boys, Zac Brown, Bad Bunny, Cashmere Cat, Miley Cyrus, Leonardo DiCaprio, Snoop Dogg, Joel Embiid, Halsey, Kevin Hart, Lil Jon, Wiz Khalifa, Tory Lanez, John Legend, Adam Levine, Shawn Mendes, Miguel, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Psy, Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, Sia, Hailee Steinfeld, Meghan Trainor, Brendon Urie, Kris Wu and Lil Yachty.
Proceeds from the song will support the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which is "dedicated to the protection and wellbeing of all Earth's inhabitants."
