'Tis the season for year-end lists, and TikTok has just released its roundup of songs that were the most popular on its platform in Canada this year — and homegrown talent tops the lists.

      • 15 Canadian artists share their favourite songs of 2023

Mississauga, Ont., R&B singer-songwriter PartyNextDoor held the coveted spot of most popular song on TikTok in Canada in 2023, with a sped-up version of his 2014 song "Her Way" that he released earlier this year. Justin Bieber had the eighth most popular song of the year with "Beauty and a Beat," the singer's 2012 song with Nicki Minaj that enjoyed a resurgence thanks to viral choreography tutorials.

When it comes to the most popular Canadian artists on TikTok for 2023, Juno nominees Lauren Spencer Smith and Faouzia start and end the list of 10 artists, which also includes Toronto singer-songwriter Alexander Stewart, Ottawa rapper and singer Dax and Calgary's Tate McRae, whose current hit "Greedy" is still topping the charts.

For his first headlining show in Toronto, rapper Connor Price brought his bouncy rhythms and fast-paced flow to a sold-out crowd at History. Joined by DJ 4Korners, Price beamed as he performed his upbeat tracks including “Violet,” “Buddy” and other fan favourites. He surprised concertgoers with his Till Next Time collaborator, Nic D, and the two performed swift, lively renditions of “Bankroll,” “It’s Going Down,” “Swordfish,” and more. The audience was energetic and joyful, yelling along to every song. “Having a big response from the Toronto fans meant the world to me,” Price told CBC Music.
