Watch Choir! Choir! Choir!'s tribute to Leonard Cohen
Toronto-based choral collective Choir! Choir! Choir! gathered in Toronto's Christie Pits Park last night to pay tribute to legendary songwriter Leonard Cohen.
News of Cohen's death was made public on Nov. 10, but the Canadian singer-songwriter died in his sleep on Nov. 7 after a fall at his home. He was 82 years old and had just released an album, You Want it Darker, weeks before his death.
During the gathering in the park, Choir! Choir! Choir! sang several Cohen compositions, including "Bird on a Wire," "Sisters of Mercy," "Famous Blue Raincoat," "So Long Marianne" and "Hallelujah."
Attendees held candles in the dark as they sang at the sing-along event, which also featured readings of Cohen's work by poet Damien Rogers and an appearance by Lemon Bucket Okestra.
