$1.9M in damage after fire engulfs industrial cleaner, closes highway in Prince George

A fire that engulfed an industrial uniform supplier and cleaner in Prince George, B.C., Tuesday night, closing a major highway for several hours, has caused an estimated $1.9 million in damage.

A fire that engulfed an industrial uniform supplier and cleaner in Prince George, B.C., Tuesday night, closing a major highway for several hours, has caused an estimated $1.9 million in damage, the city's fire rescue service says.

In a release, the city says crews were called to the 3900 block of Kenworth Road at about 8:45 p.m. PT Tuesday, with four fire halls responding.

Photos posted to community Facebook groups show fire crews outside Spotless Uniform and Linen along the Hart Highway — or Highway 97 — on the north side of the city around 9 p.m., with smoke coming from inside the building.

A fire at Spotless Uniform and Linen Service along the Hart Highway in Prince George on the night of Aug. 5 closed the road for several hours.

Later in the night, large flames could be seen coming from the building as even more crews responded and RCMP shut down the highway through the city.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause is still under investigation.

According to their website, Spotless provides a number of services, including uniform sales, dry cleaning and industrial cleaning throughout B.C. and Alberta.
