Alan Jackson and Kevin Costner are among the country singers heading to Halifax next year for a two-day music festival next summer.

Country Rockfest 2010 will be held Aug. 6-7 on the Halifax Common, concert promoter Harold MacKay announced Thursday.

Jackson is the headliner for Saturday's show. Costner, arguably better known as an actor and director, will open, along with Modern West, Billy Currington and the band Lonestar.

Nova Scotia's own George Canyon will open for Johnny Reid on Friday, which MacKay said will be designated "military night."

Tickets go on sale on Dec. 15. A special holiday weekend pass is $89, including tax and fees, while the VIP package costs $189.

In 2008, the park in central Halifax hosted Country Rocks, featuring country star Keith Urban.
