Police in Belleville, Ont., are asking the public for help in locating a 27-year-old woman who has been missing since Thursday night.

A family friend received a text message from Jessica Elizabeth Lloyd's cellphone at 10:36 p.m. ET Thursday night, but family and friends haven’t heard from her since.

Lloyd didn’t show up for work Friday, and family told police it is "out of character" for her to be out of contact.

"We’re treating this suspiciously at this time, and doing everything we possibly can from every angle here at the Belleville Police Service to return her home safely," said Belleville police Deputy Chief Paul Vandegraaf.

Police said Lloyd is five feet, five inches tall, and weighs around 125 pounds. She has green eyes, dark brown shoulder length hair and a tattoo of an intricate "L" that spans the width of her lower back. Police said she may be wearing a green and white ski jacket.

Caitlynn Nott, an Ottawa resident who went to the same high school as Lloyd, is a member of a Facebook group that’s dedicated to finding the missing woman.

"I don’t even know what to think," Nott told CBC News. "I just hope that everything’s OK and hopefully it’s just lack of communication and she comes home safe."

Vandegraaf said the Facebook group, which has more than 2,000 members, shows that the community cares about the safe return of the Belleville woman.

Investigators have asked anyone with information on Lloyd’s whereabouts to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.
