A woman was killed and 21 people were injured when a roller-coaster in western Japan slipped off its track and hit a guard rail.
The roller-coaster was travellingup to 75 km/h when an axle on one of its six cars broke, the Kyodo news service reported.
Expoland, the Osaka amusement park built for World Expo in 1970,was crowded with families celebrating Children's Day during Japan's busy "Golden Week" holiday when the accident happenedSaturday.
Expoland's president issued an apology on what he says was supposed to be a "fun day."
The park has been closed while the accident is investigated.
