Dizzy packs charm and heart into its Danforth Music Hall performance
Dizzy, the indie-pop band comprising lead singer Katie Munshaw and brothers Charlie, Alex and Mackenzie Spencer, created an atmosphere of intimacy at its Danforth Music Hall concert. The Oshawa, Ont., group’s set was a mix of uptempo and cheerful singalongs — Munshaw skipped across the stage with sincere joy as she sang “Birthmark” and “Open Up Wide” — as well as sensitive, introspective songs such as “Roman Candles” and “Stupid 4 U.” The crowd stood shoulder to shoulder with their phones aglow, capturing Munshaw’s raw, dulcet vocals. “Playing live is important to me,” Munshaw tells CBC Music about the feeling of seeing fans sing the band’s words back to them at shows.
