How deepfake nudes are reshaping online abuse among teens

A new study from the not-for-profit group Thorn says 1 in 8 Americans under the age of 18 personally know someone who’s had an AI-generated pornographic deepfake made of them. Thorn's Head of Research Melissa Stroebel says the acceleration of AI makes it easier than ever to create hyper-realistic explicit images of anyone in seconds and that this technology is reshaping online abuse.
