Bella Irish is a Grade 7 student from Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories. She and a fellow classmate won first place for making a traditional Inuit firestarter at the Beaufort Delta Divisional Education Council’s Wisdom Fest earlier this year. Bella showed CBC Kids News how to use one, and how it was made using softwood, muskox rib and seal skin.
