Part One

White House press barred from briefing
For the umpteenth time, Donald Trump expresses his hostility toward the media — but then, for the first time, his White House bars certain news outlets from a press briefing.

Kim Jong Nam and VX agent
We knew Kim Jong Nam — half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un — died in a Malaysian airport; now we also know assassins apparently killed him by wiping VX nerve agent on his face.

Daytona 500 driver
For the first time in nearly three decades, a Canadian is going to race in the Daytona 500 — and tonight, we'll talk to D.J. Kennington about his one-track mind.

Part Two

Preliminary inquiries
Two provinces announce they're reconsidering the role of preliminary inquiries in the court process to prevent unreasonable delays — but our guest says that's unreasonable.

Fake traffic police
To combat speeding, residents of a Scottish town decide Plan A is to stand next to a busy road holding radar guns. But, since they have none, they go with Plan B: standing next to a busy road holding hairdryers.

Part Three

From Our Archives: Bernie Curtis
The late Bernie Custis made history when he became the first black quarterback to play professional football. Last night, As it Happens spoke with a friend of the former Hamilton Tiger-Cat. Tonight, we visit the archives to hear from the man himself.

Quebec seniors' home
It seemed like a joke when a Quebec seniors' home advertised a number of free spaces due to, quote, "a number of deaths", unquote. But a coroner's report on one of those deaths has raised serious questions about the care provided in that home.
