Part One

Omar Khadr: lawyer
There are congratulations and consternation after the government apologizes to Omar Khadr, and pays him millions in compensation — and his lawyer says it's a fair deal for Canada's role in his ordeal.

Liu Xiaobo latest
Friends of the long-imprisoned democracy activist and Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo say he's close to death — and they're pleading with the Chinese government to meet with him before it's too late.

Iceberg swimmer
Our guest describes the numb feeling he had watching a man swim into the cold waters off Newfoundland to sit on an iceberg — but you'll have to imagine the numb feeling he had.

Part Two

Turkey march
Tens of thousands of people march across Turkey, demanding the president stop his crackdown on dissent — and they've walked four hundred kilometres to Istanbul to make their point.

Christie beach house
Throwing down the towel. When Governor Chris Christie infuriates residents of New Jersey by lounging on the beach, after he'd closed the shore to everyone else, a state assemblyman introduces a bill that would allow people to rent out Christie's beach house.
