DJ searches for couple, probably in their 70s, that attended all-night rave
A British DJ is searching for the dancers who made his night while he was spinnning at a London club. But all he knows is that they're Polish and they're probably in their 70s.
The couple attended an all-night dance party at a London nightclub on the weekend. They drank tequila and stayed until 5 a.m.
"When they came down to the club, I offered them a free drink. They got a shot of tequila each and the woman high-fived me."- Jacob Hansen, Dj and club promoter
Jacob Hansen — also known as DJ Jacob Husley — runs the weekly techno event called WetYourSelf! at London's Fabric nightclub. He describes it as a "full on rave party." Hansen was surprised when he first saw the couple enter the club.
"They were making their way down the stairs and she was on her [crutch] … and I just stopped and said, 'Are you all right?' And they just smiled and nodded and continued downstairs," Hansen tells As it Happens host Carol Off.
"When they came down to the club, I offered them a free drink. They got a shot of tequila each and the woman high-fived me."
Later on, Hansen offered the couple free drinks, but the couple declined and asked for tea. Hansen saw them dancing throughout the evening.
"They were out together and did kind of like a ballroom-type dance … very slowly. She sat down. She couldn't stand too well without him. But, he would go out on his own and had quite a few dances with the younger girls on the dance floor, which was very sweet."
The couple didn't speak English. But Hansen found a Polish-speaker at the club who could interpret. He learned that the couple was visiting their daughter in London. They learned about Fabric nightclub on the internet then bought tickets to the event.
Hansen has the couple's email address. He hasn't received a reply yet. But, he hopes the media attention will help him find the couple.
"I'm assuming, at some point, somebody will recognize them. But whether they want to be identified, and have their names out there, is another matter."
