Wounded reporter's sister speaks about Afghanistan shooting, photographer's death

Two Associated Press journalists were in a car watching over their camera equipment when a rogue Afghan policeman opened fire on them on Friday. Two Associated Press journalists were in a car watching over their camera equipment when a rogue Afghan policeman opened fire on them on Friday. Killed instantly was photographer Anja Niedringhaus and seriously injured was journalist Kathy Gannon. Ms. Gannon, a Canadian, is a well-known foreign correspondent and has appeared many times on our program.

"She was in a secure compound, they were travelling with a convoy, they had the military that was supposed to be protecting them," Kathy's sister Patricia Gannon tells Carol. "There was absolutely no way that Kathy or Anja could have ever anticipated this."
