Why does the Senate need so many towels?

Apparently the Senate goes through plenty of towels — a request for proposals estimates 1,325 towels are used each week.

Canada's embattled upper chamber needs 1500 fresh bath towels, 500 hand towels, and 125 dish cloths.

Apparently the Senate goes through plenty of towels — a request for proposals estimates 1,325 towels are used each week, with around 63,000 towel uses each year.

What in the world is the Canadian Senate doing with all those towels? Our panel pokes fun at the senate and its terrycloth compulsions.
